Targeted Because of Their Dad’s Job

Mohamed Alaloul’s children, Rahaf, Qais, Kanan, and Ahmed were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Al Maghazi Refugee Camp.

Mohammed Alaloul, a photographer for Anadolu Agency news service, was at work when he learned that his four children were killed in a targeted air strike while sheltering at Al Maghazi Refugee Camp in early November. His four children, Qais, Ahmad, Rahaf, and Kenaan were killed instantly. Since the beginning of Israel’s aggression on Gaza, Israel has targeted journalists and their families. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) says this is the most dangerous situation for journalists they have ever seen, since at least 1992. In a report released on December 21, 2023, CPJ said they are witnessing an apparent pattern of targeting of journalists and their families by the Israeli military.
