Prior to the start of its bombardment of the Gaza Strip, Israel cut off Gaza’s entire electrical supply. Cutting off electricity is a form of collective punishment, which affects people’s ability to heat their homes, charge their communication devices, and the hospitals’ ability to provide necessary care to the most vulnerable patients. Additionally, Israel has been targeting buildings that have solar panels or generators. Before this current aggression, Palestinians in Gaza were limited to 4 hours of electricity a day by Israel. Can you imagine having to plan out your day based on when you will be allowed to access electricity? Would you use your phone more mindfully? How would that affect your work routine?
